PGE Foundation Announces 2023 Creative Expression Grants

July 11, 2023

In a commitment to enhance the vital role that arts and culture play in fostering a well-rounded education and thriving local economy, the PGE Foundation is proud to award $275,000 in creative expression grants to 24 organizations. Grant recipients are recognized for their continued efforts to increase equity and access to arts and culture education.

“Today’s young people are facing big challenges to finding their sense of identity and belonging, exacerbated by childhoods interrupted by the pandemic, social injustice and political polarization,” said Melissa Dubois, program officer of the PGE Foundation. “The arts provide opportunities for youth and adults alike to express their truth, build greater confidence and feel a sense of belonging.”

This year's grant recipients include iUrban Teen, Arts for Learning, Arts Council of Pendleton and World Stage Theater. Additionally, the foundation has invested in several capital projects, contributing to the renewal and expansion of spaces that provide access to Oregon’s creative landscape, including the Portland Art Museum, Literary Arts, Artists’ Repertory Theater and the Museum at Warm Springs.

“Our investments not only support organizations who are educating youth in innovative ways,” said Kregg Arntson, executive director of the PGE Foundation. “They are expanding access to arts experiences and helping our community address complex societal issues like mental health and racism.”
