Improving the quality of life for Oregonians
The PGE Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Portland General Electric. Founded in 1997, the foundation was created through an endowment with the purpose of improving the quality of life for all Oregonians. Since its inception, we have awarded more than $27 million to community organizations across the state.
Through collaborative partnerships, our grants work to strengthen the community by empowering families, inspiring young people through creative expression, and establishing clear pathways to educational and career opportunities. In fact, recently we joined with PGE to launch Project Zero, a social impact initiative that gives Oregon youth the skills and knowledge needed to create cleaner, greener more equitable communities.
As a foundation dedicated to helping others, we champion values that embrace diversity, equity and inclusion. Working together with community members, partners and friends, we are committed to using our time and resources to help eliminate disparities where all people can reach their full potential.
PGE Foundation welcomes applications from eligible nonprofits through three focus-specific grant cycles: Education, Creative Expression and Career Pathways. While the majority of grants support projects and programs that align with our funding priorities, we also award grants for operating expenses and new and existing capital construction projects.
The foundation will award grants at three focus-specific board meetings. Eligible applicants may apply by completing an online grant application in the Education, Creative Expression or Career Pathways funding areas.
In 2022, we gave more than $1.4 million in grants, focused on empowering rural and low-income communities, as well as communities of color, to build the skills, knowledge and capacity to define their own success.
